- 4 pears, halved and cored
- 2 tbsp currants
- 4 tbsp apple juice
Grill the pears under low heat for 5 minutes, turning once. Sprinkle the currants on top and pour over the apple juice. Serve immediately.
PEARS IN CAROB
- 300ml/10 ½ fl oz/1 ¼ cups white grape
- Juice 6 pears, peeled, cored and cut in half lengthways
- 280g/10oz silken tofu
- 3 tbsp brown rice syrup
- 2 tbsp hazelnut butter
- 1 tsp carob powder
- 1 tsp grain coffee substitute
- 2 tbsp sunflower oil
Put two-thirds of the grape juice in a pan and bring to the boil. Add the pears, reduce the heat and simmer, covered, for 8 minutes until the liquid has evaporated. Divide into four dessert bowls. Put the remaining juice and ingredients in a food processor and whizz until creamy. Serve with the cooked pears.
- 4 pears, peeled
- I00g/3 ½ oz clear honey
- 123ml/4 ½ fl oz/ ½ cup apple juice
- 1 tsp ground ginger
Place the pears in a pan. Pour over the honey, juice and 250ml/9fl oz/ 1 cup water. Sprinkle over the ginger and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, covered, for 20 minutes. Allow to cool in the syrup.
